Our Board of Directors

Liz Hensel is a proud Marine veteran, Marine spouse, and passionate advocate dedicated to strengthening the Marine Security Guard community through service, connection, and compassionate leadership. Having served in the United States Marine Corps for 16 years and being a military spouse, Liz has experienced military life from both perspectives. She understands the unique sacrifices made by Marines and their families and believes that informed, connected, and supported families are essential to mission success. Her leadership is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring no family feels alone throughout their military journey.

Liz's connection to the Marine Embassy Security Group is both personal and professional. During her husband's service with MCESG, their family had the opportunity to live in Tel Aviv, Israel, experiencing firsthand the rewards and challenges of diplomatic service overseas. Combined with her own military career and years of supporting military families through mentorship, volunteer leadership, and advocacy, those experiences inspired her to create a lasting support network for the global embassy community. Liz has also led national advocacy efforts benefiting military families, including successful legislation expanding reimbursement for military families relocating with their pets during PCS moves.

As the Founder and President of the Post One Families Association, Liz is honored to lead an organization dedicated to serving Marine Security Guard families worldwide. She founded the association to bridge gaps in communication, community, and family support for Marines serving at embassies and consulates, their Detachment Commander families, and the parents and loved ones who support them from home. Through advocacy, morale programs, emergency family assistance, educational resources, and meaningful partnerships, Liz is committed to building an enduring organization that reflects the values of service, resilience, and connection. Her vision is simple: to ensure that every Marine Security Guard family, regardless of where they serve, has access to trusted resources, a supportive community, and a place to call home.

Melanie S. Brown

Melanie S. Brown is a proud Marine spouse of more than 26 years, devoted Marine mom, and servant leader committed to strengthening the military community through connection, advocacy, and service. Throughout her family’s Marine Corps journey, she has embraced opportunities to support Marines and their families by fostering meaningful relationships, mentoring military spouses, and building communities rooted in resilience and belonging. Melanie’s passion for serving the Marine Embassy Security Group community is deeply personal. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in integrity, collaboration, and servant leadership, with a focus on empowering others and strengthening the bonds that unite the military community.

As a founding member and Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Post One Families Association, Melanie is honored to help establish an organization dedicated to supporting Marines and families serving with the Marine Embassy Security Group. Guided by her belief that service extends beyond the uniform, Melanie is dedicated to ensuring every Marine and family connected to the MCESG community has access to trusted resources, meaningful connections, and a network that understands the unique nature of diplomatic service.
